IBM Websphere Premises Server

What is IBM’s WebSphere® Premises Server?

WebSphere Premises Server is a middleware infrastructure product from IBM designed to facilitate the deployment, data collection and management of RFID devices and solutions. Premises Server builds upon the IBM service-oriented architecture (SOA) foundation product set establishing the base for scalable, reliable, RFID solutions that leverage existing infrastructures, integrate with diverse line of business applications, and provide a platform for implementing new innovative business processes to exploit the insights from RFID information. It delivers a flexible architecture for data capture and delivery from a broad set of devices, as well as filtering, aggregation, and integration of RFID events with other sensor information. This enables RFID data to be turned into useful, actionable RFID events that provide the insights leading to business process innovations.

What is a Device Agent?

A Device Agent enables data capture device manufacturers such as RFID readers to interoperate with WebSphere Premises Server through an open standards-based device model. The Device Agent enables the seamless integration between hardware and software infrastructure.

What Sirit products support IBM’s WebSphere Premises Server?

Sirit’s INfinity™ 510 UHF reader supports IBM’s WebSphere Premises Server. Sirit's RFID readers are well-known for their multi-protocol agility, multi-regional flexibility, and programmability. They read all EPC compliant tags and are backed by industry certifications of interoperability and compliance with industry standards. Our high-performance INfinity 510 readers provide maximum flexibility in configuration, a user-friendly interface, along with extensive documentation.

How does the Sirit INfinity 510 reader interact with the device agent?

The Device Agent for the INfinity 510 allows for the IBM WebSphere Premises Server to communicate with Sirit INfinity 510 Reader. The user can use the Administrative Console that comes with the Premises Server to download the agent from an update site, define a device, location and controller, and then start receiving events from the physical INfinity 510 readers. Device Agent measurements can be set through the Administrative console for a given device configuration group. Applications can then subscribe to the commands and signals generated from the device agent.
